The door-to-door salesman came to my house just yesterday. He went through his spiel, and since we were looking to purchase an alarm system anyway, we let him in.
He told me about his company and their offer, and I pulled out my laptop and looked them up. I also looked up offers from other alarm companies. His offer and equipment seemed fine, but the monitoring fee was a little high. I wanted more equipment, so even though we were over their "point" allowance, he threw it in at no cost. He also waived installation and offered me a shorter contract when I turned down the 5 years. We agreed, and he called to schedule the installation.
Less than 5 minutes after he called, the installers showed up. What a great sales tactic. Sell it then install it before they change their minds. I didn't care, since I actually wanted it. The sooner the better. The fast installation was a positive for me, not a negative. The technicians, and salesman, were all young college students. They were well dressed, polite, and professional. They were in and out very quickly. They could have cleaned up better, though.
The next morning I set the alarm and went to work. I wasn't even off the street when the company was calling me because the alarm went off. I went in, shut it off, and tried to reset it. No such luck. I called to schedule a technician visit and they said they could get one out here next week. I told them that was unacceptable, and they had a technician come out in 2 hours. It was the same guy who installed it. He swapped out my sensors and it's worked fine thus far.
3 Month Update:
I've had no problems or concerns since it was installed. It has performed as advertised.
