I recently had APX come to my door.  I didn't have wireless phone contact with my previous system , so I decided to go with APX.

They claimed to put in a new system with a thermal/ motion detector as well as replacing my old system with "new high tech" wireless solutions. NOT!!!  They never even replaced the batteries , let alone the door contacts. They took my old 40# motion detector and moved it to a new location rather than replace it with the " new high tech one" which wouldn't detect my cat.  When I contacted my old carrier to disconnect , I got a rude awakening.  The "high tech" device that was supposed to be installed doesn't even exist.

My APX contract stated I had 3 business days to cancel.  I then discovered that , at least in Missouri, they can't do a same day install , they are required to wait for the 3 day period in order for the contract to be valid.
My previous alarm company has been great over the last 6 years and the wireless coverage, preventing phone loss from disabling my system was my only reason for switching.  JOILA , everyone has the same technology , my old carrier is upgrading my system for less and I know I have police response with a locally recognized carrier (they have responded in the past).

Beware of APX , no company with any ethics would do the install with a null and void contract if they were legitimate and cared about you. I am now taking every action (weblogs, BBB, etc.) to make sure that no one else makes the same mistake that I did. I am in the process of contacting the president of the company and expressing my dissatisfaction with his poorly managed customer service dept. I am in the military and can get out of the contract, but for those who cannot, I am sorry. Choose any other system other than APX Alarm!!!
*Update (Added Sept 20/08):
While an attempt by APX was made  to keep the equipment installed and keep me as a customer, once I was lied to, that wasn't an option in my mind.  I went back to my old company and got exactly what I needed with no questions.
