APX Alarm System has the worst customer service (that is contracted out) that I ever had to deal with.
The deal to introduce the "free" alarm system sounded fine. The sales rep stated that everything was completely free until I read the statement about $40 a month. Then he said how that wasn't hardly any money and I shouldn't have any trouble paying that. When I was reading the statement about only having 3 days to terminate the service, the salesman told me that the statement did not apply to me and to disregard it. I even signed next to the statement and he said I didn't have to worry about it and to disregard. After agreeing to the service, an installer showed up about an hour later (at 10pm). He first destroyed my wall by drilling into the ventilation system and simply slapped some putty over an enormous hole. Then after about an hour and a half, he called his friends who were also installers. They showed up around 11:45 (without our permission) and they simply joked around until about 12:15. When the system was finally installed (around 12:20am), I heard beeping. When I asked what that annoying sound was, he stated he was just checking to make sure it was active and that was the alarm. It was not the alarm; in fact, it was the alarm activating and it takes about 2 minutes of consistent, non stop, annoying beeping. After 4 days I couldn't stand in incessant beeping and was thoroughly upset with the hole in my wall. I decided I wanted out of the service. When calling the customer service department, I was promised a manager would be able to return my call within 48 hrs. 72 hrs later I called back and had to wait on hold for 40 mins to speak with any type of supervisor. One of the rudest people I have ever spoke with (Angela Woodard) advised me in a condescending tone how basically it was all my fault for signing up for the service and there was no one else to speak with about my complaints with the service and the company.
I am now taking every action (weblogs, BBB, etc.) to make sure that no one else makes the same mistake that I did. I am in the process of contacting the president of the company and expressing my dissatisfaction with his poorly managed customer service dept. I am in the military and can get out of the contract, but for those who cannot, I am sorry. Choose any other system other than APX Alarm!!!
