A couple of years ago in April we had a salesman come to our door offering us a great alarm system. We decided to receive this security system for what seemed to be a great deal. Upon reading over the paperwork I noticed that the funds were to be electronically deducted from my checking account. I stated to the salesman that I would like to mail in my payment. He called in his office to get "approval" that this would be okay. It was okay, so everything was signed and set.

Approximately a week later we had your technician come to install our great system. After approximately 7 visits 3 of our 5 phone lines had been snapped and lines were crossed. Meaning that my phone calls were going to my roommate's line. It was a disaster. I called into Alarm One's great "Customer Service" Center and explained the havoc and requested they take the whole system. They stated that I had signed a year contract. Alarm One agreed to pay for the broken lines. They did.

I agreed that I would keep paying because I know that I truly did sign a contract. After about 1 month I received my bank statement and noticed that Alarm One was deducting the payment from my checking account! I immediately called in to "Customer Service" and stated my case and I was told that automatic deduction was the only way they accepted payment. Even after I explained the situation with the sales men getting approval, they stated that is not possible. I decided that I only had a one-year contract and that I was stuck with a company that lied.

After all of this the alarm stopped working. At no time did the alarm company contact to see if a burglar or robber was in the house. Nothing. We called in to Alarm One were they made 3 trips out to try and fix this machine. This was an extreme inconvience for me. I could not spend hours of my time just for an alarm system. I called in once again and told them that there is no need to send a technician out as my alarm is not working nor do I care. I at that time requested that my account be terminated. I understood that I would have to pay for the year contract I signed up for.

Alarm One requested that I send over via fax in writing my request to terminate my account. I did and called back in to make sure they received it. Everything was set. About a year goes by and I am still seeing deductions from Alarm One on my bank statement. I again call in to "customer service" where they proceed to tell me that since I didn't cancel my account I have been automatically renewed for another year.

I explained the whole situation. I was told they had switched systems therefore they cannot see the notes on my account from the prior year. So here I am again dealing with a company that lied. I continue making payments as I see I have no choice. My only option is to again fax them a paper and send them payment for the rest of the year. I explain that I do not have that kind of money. Therefore I had to continue making payments. Meanwhile I am getting collection calls.
Approximately 2-3 a day. I work 8-5 therefore am not home so these were all on my answering machine. I called back stated my situation as of course "Alarm One" has no notes on my account. I agreed that I would pay off the rest of the year when I had the funds. This representative kept calling. I confronted the issue as she started calling my place of employment. I requested that she not call here and I was told and I quote " I can call you as many times as I want, home or office" and then she hung up on me. "Customer Service"..... I immediately called back in and asked for a supervisor. He stated his apologies and asked my account status, I explained my whole situation, again. Upon this conversation we agreed that I would send him via fax a letter requesting termination, again and that Alarm One would automatically deduct $200 approximately, from my account to pay off the rest of the contract.

I explained that after this I never want to as much here the word "Alarm One" come thru my phone or in any letter. He agreed that I would be done and terminated. I continued to get collection calls from the same representative who had harassed and hung up on me prior. I then, again, call in and speak with the same supervisor and explain the ridiculous situation. The fact that I have a scheduled automatic deduction and am still getting the calls?! After 3 days the calls had stopped. I faxed over my letter requesting termination and the funds were deducted. Fina1ly at last I am thru with Alarm One. Last month, January, I receive a statement that my account has a credit of $90. I do not bother calling in even though I show a credit. I would rather give up $90 than have to deal with "Alarm One" Today, February 24, 2003 I receive in the mail a statement that my account has a credit of $60 and it showed a deduction for February.

I again call into "Alarm One" speak with a representative who stated that my account is not closed as they have not received my cancellation letter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if they do not receive my letter by March 10th I will be renewed for another year! So here I am again sending my cancellation letter via certified mail that way I will not have to deal with Alarm One's "Customer Service" department. I am amazed at the way Alarm One has treated my account and me. I find that I have given you enough money for an alarm system that barely worked for a month.

I would not recommend this company to anyone.
