Review For: ADT Security Services/ Defender Security
This ADT customer review has been submitted anonymously by a present or former ADT burglar alarms client.  Please note that ADT uses a sub-dealer program, which usually means that a local company will install and service your alarm, and ADT will monitor it.  So a review listed here may not be for or against corporate ADT, but a completely independent local dealer.  If you submit a review, please indicate whether the review is regarding ADT corporate, or the local company who installed your system.

DON'T GET ADT!!!!!!!

We have had ADT for 9 years, we upgraded in 11/08 and they have gotten sorry as H*!!.  We did have an attempted break in Nov. 2008 and the alarm went off and they did call me.  This is why we upgraded because after 8 yrs, we found out that the wiring the tech. put in the windows, were not registered at the headquarters of ADT.  So, all this time, we were thinking we were secure (NOT), we were not.

When we called to ask about it, the cust. svc rep. sd. we never had the windows on the contract.  We did on our copy but because it was over 5 yrs, they couldn't find their copy of contract.  They offered us a "great" upgrade to include all windows and upgraded panels.  they Tech came out, only had one panel, he explained the upgrade only had one panel, the rep. never seemed to mention that.  I even asked because I loved the fact we had one in Garage and one in bdrm. Not anymore.  Since the upgrade I have twice intentionally not put the code in when I come home from work.  The alarm went off for (1st time) "not long enough" per ADT so they didn't call back.  2nd time, I let it go off for 3.2 minutes, that's 1 minute and 2 seconds over their "120 second" policy.  Why did they have registered that it only went off for 5 seconds!  I do not feel secure and I have small kids, the rep. told me, "well, the correct code was entered so we canceled the call".  I wouldn't give a sh*& if the correct code was entered, my alarm went off for 3 minutes and no one bothered to see what was going on.  He also said that they have false alarm fees, so I asked how many times have I had a false alarm, his reply, NONE.  Okay then, I don't care to pay for any false alarm fee, I want my family secure.

DO NOT CHOOSE ADT, THEY DO NOT UPHOLD TO THEIR WORD.  I GUESS I HAVE TO LIVE IN A MANSION WITH MILLION DOLLAR EQUIP. ME, I AM STANDARD BUT THEY HAVE NOT MADE ME FEEL SECURE AT ALL.  I WILL CANCEL AS SOON AS I GET A BETTER SECURITY SYSTEM!!!!!!!!
