I had an alarm event happen at my house. About 7:30 am roughly. I woke up, checked the garage window and then reset the alarm.
When I came home from my errands I still noticed the zone wasn't reset, I checked my answering machine and cell phone again no calls from ADT. I went on with my business, and at roughly 8:30 pm that eve I got a call from an operator who had a sense of urgency in her voice. Telling me about a breach in my zone for the garage window. I laughed at her and asked her when did this notification come in, she said 7:30 am, I said it's after 8 pm, 12 hours later, if this was real do you think I would be talking to you??? Her excuse was ADT is a very busy company, and they coudn't get to it till now. Good thing I carry (a gun).
I have heard other stories from cops also. The only thing the alarm is good for is to give me fair warning of a break in, so I can get 1 in the chamber. By the time they get the call... then call me... then call the cops...
The police will only be arriving to a crime scene, not while the crime is happening.
