Hello I work in the ADT monitoring center. When reading through many of the reviews I keep seeing mention of a $99 install. Now, I don't work in the sales department but I handle many calls with a question about this after it had been installed. If you read closely on these coupons it says that is an ADT AUTHORIZED DEALER. What is an authorized dealer? This is a company that has their own equipment and services but not a monitoring center so they partner with ADT to monitor THEIR customers systems. You send the bill to ADT because you are paying for ADT monitoring. Okay. The $99 deal is 2 doors and a window OR a motion detector. It also comes with one of the honestly, lower end keypads and probably a remote keyfob. If you have a bigger house and you want more protection than the 3 sensors that deal promises then it costs more. These deals are only set up through authorized dealers which means it is NOT ADT corporate installing the system or servicing it. You pay much less for an install and per month for monitoring than a corporate customer. With this generally comes a trip cost if down the line you need service on your system. Also, ADT does have a contract. It is always atleast 2 years but usually 3 years. If you move you are still in contract. This is not a new concept. This is similar to phone contracts or a warranty on a car. My suggestion would be to research your security system. Ask questions during the install. Be sure that someone LIVING IN THE HOME is there during the installation. No technology is ever perfect, if you have questions then call. The monitoring center is open 24 hours a day.
If you have read this, now you know how the authorized dealers work a little bit better. I hope this clears some confusion. Remember, your security system should be designed to give you peace of mind. If there is something that you don't understand or feel uncomfortable with call in and ask to change that feature.
