Two fairly prominent home security companies were in the news recently - APX Alarms, and Platinum Protection, both based in Provo, Utah. These companies have much in common. They both have clients across the United States, contract out their monitoring service, and employ some rather "unique" sales methods. You may have had one of their employees knock on your door to offer you a "free" security system.
Two Somewhat Similar Alarm Companies + Two Unhappy Customers = Two Dramatically Different Responses From Management.
We're not here to say that one of these companies is better than the other, but these recent reports were too interesting and informative to our visitors to just ignore.
The first video comes to us courtesy of NBC Station WFIE in Evansville, Indiana. A local resident has an alarm system that doesn't work to her satisfaction. Watch as the APX Alarm public relations department goes into overdrive....
So would APX go to these extremes for you, if you had a similar problem? Probably not. But at least they put in some kind of effort to remedy the situation.
Knowing the press had picked up on the story was obviously a motivating factor for APX. But the company in our next video was also aware they were being investigated by the television press....
The second video is from NBC Station TMJ4 TV, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We have another customer unhappy with her alarm installation, but Platinum Protection chooses to handle it in a dramatically different way....
Again, we are not here to recommend APX or Platinum Protection. We know that every alarm company will have at least a few unsatisfied customers. But this should serve as a lesson to any alarm company: don't ignore addressing your customer's problems, as the situation will only get worse! Exceeding your client's expectations, even in the smallest way, will pay dividends in word-of-mouth advertising.
